fáilte go dtí suíomh idirlín Chairde Uí Néill
Cairde Uí Néill means 'Friends of the Uí Néill' in reference to Gaelscoil Uí Néill. We are a community based charitable organisation and our main aims are developing Irish medium education and the preservation & promotion of the Irish language in the Coalisland/Clonoe community in East Tyrone. Along with that, it is our objective to use the Irish language to develop knowledge through arts & crafts, folklore, sport, music, history, and the heritage of the place where we live.
Cairde Uí Néill was founded in 1993 as non-profit making organisation and were successful in establishing a nursery and primary school in 1995. There are over 200 children attending the schools today (Pre-nursery, Nursery and Primary School together).
Cairde Uí Néill consists of parents, parents of former pupils, and grandparents of the three school units along with members of the community that are committed to the Irish Language and its development.
Cairde Uí Néill is reponsible for the management and financial upkeep of the pre-nursery and the after-school club that are an elemental part of the nursery (Naíscoil Uí Néill) and the primary school (Gaelscoil Uí Néill).
In association with the Irish Language Development Officer, Cairde Uí Néill has implemented the Irish Language in the Community scheme since 2011. A large range of events are ran in the community on a regular basis throughout the year such as the following:
Classes for adult learners, Intensive day courses, Irish Language Entertainment Nights, Irish Language Quizzes, Talks on Irish Language Interest Themes, Irish Language Masses, HillWalking, Summer Camps, Gaeltacht Trips, Reading Clubs, RITH, Irish Language Week, Líofa campaign, Conversation Circle, Campaigning, Gaelic Games competitions, Festivals and more.
